Hollywood Crop Wrap Up
Seventh Stop: Dolby Theatre
Here are some Fun Facts about the Dolby Theatre:
- Hollywood’s 3,400-seat Dolby Theatre, formerly known as the Kodak Theatre, was designed as a permanent home for the annual Academy Awards ceremony (The Oscars), and having opening in November 2001 has hosted The Oscars every year since. The theatre is located in the heart of Hollywood, within the Hollywood & Highland entertainment and shopping complex.
- David Rockwell, founder of the Rockwell Group Link opens in new window, designed the theatre in conjunction with Theatre Projects Consultants Link opens in new window who provided concept design, theatre planning, and theatre equipment design/specification services.
- A core component of the design was ensuring large-scale television/broadcast events could use the theatre effectively, both technically and in appearance, and as such leading industry professionals were consulted extensively throughout the planning and design phases.
- he ceiling features a striking silver tiara which extends vertically down to the auditorium floor, while also being practical in providing concealed cable runs and flexible cove lighting positions in the auditorium ceiling.
- The Dolby Theatre played host to Cirque du Soleil’s Iris, an acrobatic journey through the world of cinema, from mid-2011 until early 2013. Although initially booked for a run of 10 years with a month-long break each spring for The Oscars, the show closed in early 2013 due to poor ticket sales. Cirque du Soleil made significant changes to the theatre, including adding stage lifts extending 44ft under the original stage floor, at a cost of approximately $40 million.
- In August 2017 the City of Los Angeles purchased the theatre for $100,000 from CRA/LA, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, which was being disbanded. The City had issued $43.21 million in April 1999 in taxable bonds for the construction of the theatre, and with $28.3 million still owing the City had to control the property. The 99-year lease to CIM Group for operation of the theatre was not affected by the change in ownership.
What a wonderful journey this has been!
Six weeks vanished in a blur. There was lots of learning to be done and lots of fun to be had. The fun is not over yet. This post has all of the amazing details you need to know as the crop comes to an end.
Crop End Date
Though training weekend is complete, the crop doesn't officially end until April 30, 2022. While we will not be offering any additional training and providing any additional activities, you still have many opportunities to win. You can win by posting your pages in the Hollywood Crop Collaborative Album, or by posting to the pixels2Pages Community and/or Hollywood Crop Facebook Groups using the hashtags provided for various activities. Winners will be announced every week during a variety of times. Announcements will be unscheduled, but winners will be able to see if they won a prize by visiting the news post or the Winners Circle post which will be added to this Interactive Agenda.
Prizes
On or before April 15th, 2022, the pixels2Pages team will be adding additional exclusive Blueprints that you can choose from if you win a prize. No additional prizes will be given and there will be no crop wrap-up gifts other than what is mentioned in this post.
Crop Posts and Recordings
The pixels2Pages Team is still in Hollywood and internet is limited. We will be adding Recordings, Power Point Presentations, Chat logs, and related offerings to all of the training posts. We anticipates all of this work to be complete by Monday, April 18, 2022.
Crop Spreadsheet
Our goal is to make the crop spreadsheet the most comprehensive documentation of all crop offerings. With the help of pixels2Pages and PPC Member Barbara Startz, we have been cataloging the topics from all of the training. We will add direct links and time details. We anticipate the crop spreadsheet to be complete on or about April 18, 2022.
Crop Idea Book
We are all still recovering from the Crop, but we still have so much more to share with you all. If you purchased a printed copy of the idea book, the pixels2Pages Team and the PPC will be adding training, tips, and samples to the QR Codes now through April 30, 2022. We will occasionally do a shout out when things are added.
At the current time there are no extra copies of the Idea Book available for purchase.
Group Photo
We are so excited that so many of you have participated in our group photo. Please note that only those who have on the official Hollywood Crop Tshirt photo will be added to the group photo.
Your photo will not be included in the group photo if:
- You are not actually wearing the official T-shirt (the png of the tshirt and clones of the tshirt logo are not acceptable.
- You did not custom cut your photo.
- You did not provide a fully body photo and we don't have a place to put your image. (We will try to use your image.)
There is still time to add your photo to the group photo. We have sold over 400 tshirts and there are about half of those images in our collab album. We will extend your time to add your photo until Friday, April 15, 2022.
For the best image, put on your t-shirt and get a full body photo of yourself in front of a solid background. You can then use the Wand Tool or Custom Cutter to cut away the background and save a .png and upload to our Group Photo Collaborative Album.
These offerings are helpful in getting the best custom cut:
- Tool Tip: Clean Cuts featuring the Custom Cutter
- Tool Tip: Clean Cuts featuring the Erase Tool
- Video Tidbit: The Magic Wand
After you cut out your image, right click the cutout> Save selection> Export to image file. Name your image Last Name, First Name and save as a png file.

Frosted Glasses
Frosted Glasses launched last week, and with that so did a special Hollywood Crop Glass. Unfortunately there was not a lot of time to get the glasses prior to the event, but if you would like to get one now, they are still available.
Badge Pages
Badges are a way of keeping track of your productivity during this crop. For every page you make and every offering you complete, you earn a badge. At any time before the cropping period ends on April 30, 2022, you can display all of the badges you have earned on a page or in a FOREVER Album and submit them to receive an exclusive Blueprint. Visit the interactive agenda Week 1 Distribution for a pre-designed badge page and for more details on how to use it.
If you are creating a page, it does not have to be fancy. You also don't need to post every page you create to earn a badge. We work on the honor system.
You will need to collect 30 Badge and submit your Badge page by April 30, 2022, in order to collect your exclusive Badge Blueprint. The Badge pages are 12x12 templates. View them in single page view with the view set to "All." Click the eye on the top element of the elements panel to show hidden instructions.
All badges are available in our Badges album. You can select multiple badges or choose them one at a time to download or copy to your FOREVER Library. NOTE: if you download multiple images at once, they will download in a zipped folder.
Badge Submission Process
Everyone who earns 30 or more badges and submits a Badge page or shares a Badge album will earn an exclusive Blueprint. You must submit your Badge page or album using the badge submission form to receive the Exclusive Blueprint.
If you are not creating a badge page and, instead, using a FOREVER Album, you will need to share the link to your Badge album from your FOREVER Badge album by clicking on the “Share Album” button and copying the link (do not simply copy the browser URL).
If you have created a badge page, please follow these instructions to get the link necessary for the form:
Exclusive Badge Blueprint
The Hollywood Crop Exclusive Badge Blueprint is called The Great Getaway by Kim Mannino. Collect your badges so you can add this to your collection.
