Add dramatic lighting to a photo, group of photos or cluster of photos on your page with a few simple steps. **Objective:** Use a gradient fill, shapes, and the soften edge filter to create a back light for elements on your page.

Video Notes:

- - Add a photo arrangement to your page (single photo, group of photos, or cluster of photos)
  - Select the background, go to the Quick Access Toolbar > Fill> Color gradient> Rectangle
    - Check the "Preview on page" box
    - Click each Color blend tab and fill with color
      - The outer color should be the darker color
      - The inner color should be the lighter color
      - Click OK
  - Insert> Shape> Ellipse
    - Fill the ellipse with the same color as the center of the gradient fill
    - Remove the stroke
    - Make the width of the ellipse very slim and the height long enough to extend beyond the top and bottom of your photo arrangement
    - Click Create
  - With the ellipse selected, go to Filter> Edge> Soften edge
    - Adjust the softness of the edge to match the peaks of the gradient background
    - Click OK
    - Rotate the ellipse to tilt it to the left
    - Optional: Use the Quick Access Toolbar to decrease the opacity of the ellipse as desired
  - With the ellipse selected, go to Home> Copy> Paste
    - Rotate the ellipse to tilt it to the right
    - If additional ellipses are desired, Home> Paste and position the copy as desired
    - Optional: Use the Quick Access Toolbar to increase or decrease the opacity of the ellipse as desired
  - Select the photo arrangement and move it up the elements panel in front of all the ellipses
