A Librarian's Digital Treasure

By Cindy Marks

My client, Anna, has been a Cataloging Librarian at an academic library since 1987. Over the years, she has captured fun moments at the library with her coworkers, creating several traditional scrapbooks filled with those memories. Eventually, Anna decided to send her scrapbook pages to FOREVER for digitization, where they are now safely stored in her FOREVER account.

Recently, someone asked Anna to share photos of certain people from years ago. As the organized FOREVER Storage owner she is, Anna accessed her account, created and emailed a share link to the appropriate scanned pages. She also created a QR code to share the pages more broadly. These photos will serve as a special gift for at least one person who will be returning to the university to be honored!

Anna said, “My coworker can now sort through the photos herself. If she wants to use an original to scan from the scrapbooks, she can let me know where she found the photo so I can retrieve the original for her, saving me the time of looking through all the photos myself. It’s a win-win! I encouraged her to put the QR code on a nice card or something special to present to the people the library wants to honor. That way, they can look through all the photos and enjoy some special memories! What a deal - and so little effort for me.”
