More Interested in the Pretty Lights Than His Performance

Welcome to this week's Digitization Connection! My husband and I recently had FOREVER® digitize an old MiniDV from 16 Christmases ago, and it was like opening a time capsule. Our 2-year-old son, surrounded by church kids singing and doing the actions to "Away in a Manger," was completely uninterested. While everyone else sang along, he was blissfully captivated by the Christmas lights and the poinsettia beside him. His face lit up when the music stopped, and he could finally escape the “stage” to enjoy the peace of just looking at things.
This is exactly why digitizing old videos is so important. Over time, VHS tapes and MiniDV cassettes degrade, and those little moments that capture the essence of who we were, and who our kids were, risk being lost forever. Digitizing these videos ensures that moments like this—imperfect, real, and full of nostalgia—are preserved for generations to come. So, dust off those old tapes, get them digitized, and relive the memories you never knew you were missing!
